Clinician/Consultant

I have served the God’s church for over twenty years as a worship leader, choir director, and worship arts director. In coming to many worship services I’ve felt that the worship experience could be a more edifying with someone with a sympathetic ear and much training coming along side to give some helpful instruction and suggestions.

I served as a soloist for a number of churches during my schooling and then was drafted as a worship leader for a small church in Connecticut. After finishing my graduate studies, I served two Baptist Universities as a professor of music & then felt the call to full time ministry. I served Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church for eleven years as Director of Music and later Director of Worship Arts. I am also privileged to be adjunct faculty at Covenant Theological Seminary. I am presently serving Green trails Methodist Church in Chesterfield, MO as Director of Worship Arts where I lead traditional and contemporary services.

In my meditations on the music of God’s church, I have come to fully subscribe to an idea offered by my friend Reggie Kidd who speaks in his book With One Voice of church music in terms of “Bach, Bubba, and the Blues Brothers.” This means I embrace the great tradition of church music most brilliantly epitomized by the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, the folk music of bubba, the every-man, the working man (which is often folk-like in nature) and the Blues Brothers, those who desire to share their gifts in contemporary styles and sounds. I began my music studies by playing guitar with my mother, later playing folk, rock, jazz and country in bands. I learned to love choral music in high school and naturally gravitated to the great music of the church. Having directed and sung in many church choirs (the great, the OK and the something is lacking type), I feel well qualified to help people with worship bands, choirs, small groups and soloists. I should mention that I have written and arranged a great deal of music for the church, including pieces for worship band, choir, & orchestra. I can also help in organizing and writing for various church ensembles. Let me also share that I claim Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and believe that the Bible is the holy and authoritative Word of God.
